The Federation of IT Industry Sri Lanka (FITIS) is proud to announce the re-launching of its communication arm, FITIS Communication Chapter at the Annual General Meeting held at the Hilton Colombo Residence recently.
Licensed Internet Service Providers’ Association (LISPA) and Telecom Providers’ Association (TPA) were the members of FITIS Communication Chapter since 1996 when FITIS formed a unified industry association with five other industry chapters. However, after some time the chapter became inactive.Hence, FITIS appointed a new council with active participation of main key players of the communication industry with the purpose of bringing a collective voice to the Communication Industry in Sri Lanka.
Representatives from Sri Lanka Telecom PLC, Mobitel, Hutch, Etisalat, Mobitel, Dialog, Airtel and LK Domain Registry attended the 1st meeting held at the FITIS Secretariat office and extended their fullest support to be part of this resumed Chapter in order to collectively address the common industry issues while contributing to the industry to bring it to a higher level.
Presently, the Communication Chapter membership is open for any company who are concerned with the business of the Internet, Internet related services, telecommunications equipment and Import/export/manufacturing/trading of ICT and telecommunication services etc. FITIS invites all companies who meet the eligibility criteria to be a member of the largest unified ICT industry body in Sri Lanka.
FITIS Communication Chapter has already made arrangements to conduct a Forum on ‘Cloud Computing’ in recent future and will have a voice on common industry issues such as Communication infrastructure, Inter- operator exchange etc.
